QR Code Generator — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about QR codes — answered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are QR codes created here permanent?

Yes. All QR codes generated by QRZap are static QR codes — the data is encoded directly into the black-and-white pattern. They contain no redirects, no tracking links, and will never expire. As long as the encoded content (URL, WiFi credentials, etc.) is valid, your QR code will scan correctly forever.

Can I use these QR codes for commercial purposes?

Absolutely. All QR codes generated with QRZap are free for any purpose — personal or commercial. Use them on business cards, restaurant menus, product packaging, event tickets, marketing flyers, real estate signs, and more. No attribution required.

What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?

Static QR codes (what QRZap creates) encode data directly into the QR pattern. They never expire, work offline, and require no subscription. Dynamic QR codes encode a short URL that redirects through a server — they can be edited after printing and offer scan analytics, but stop working if you cancel your subscription. For most use cases (WiFi sharing, contact cards, permanent links), static is the better choice.

How do I create a WiFi QR code?

Select "WiFi" from the QR type dropdown, enter your network name (SSID), password, and security type (usually WPA/WPA2). When someone scans the QR code with their phone camera, they will be prompted to connect to your WiFi network instantly — no typing required. Perfect for cafes, hotels, offices, and home guests.

What size QR code should I download?

For digital use (websites, social media, email signatures), 300-500px PNG is sufficient. For print on business cards, use 500px. For posters, banners, or large signage, use 1000-2000px or download the SVG format for infinite scalability at any print size. The SVG format is recommended for professional printing.

Can I add a logo to my QR code?

Yes. Expand the "Customize Design" panel and click "Add Logo" to upload a PNG, JPG, or SVG image. The tool automatically sets error correction to H (30% recovery) when a logo is added to ensure the QR code remains scannable. For best results, keep your logo under 30% of the total QR area and test-scan before printing.

What is error correction and which level should I use?

Error correction determines how much of the QR code can be damaged or obscured and still scan. Level L recovers 7%, M recovers 15% (default, good for screens), Q recovers 25% (good for print), and H recovers 30% (required when adding a logo, recommended for outdoor use or curved surfaces). Higher levels mean more recovery but less data capacity.

Which cryptocurrencies are supported?

QRZap supports 15+ cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Dash, Monero (XMR), Ripple (XRP), Solana (SOL), Tron (TRX), Cardano (ADA), Polkadot (DOT), Cosmos (ATOM), Stellar (XLM), and Tezos (XTZ). Ethereum covers all EVM-compatible chains like Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Base, Avalanche, and BSC — they all use the same 0x address format.
